Monsignor James J. Fitzpatrick

In 2011 we honored Monsignor James J. Fitzpatrick. On March 8, 2010, a few short weeks after the end of the 7th Annual Jimmy V CYO Classic Monsignor Fitzpatrick, M. Div., pastor at St. John’s and a long time supporter of the Jimmy V events, passed away from complications of cancer.  Born and raised in Phoenixville, PA, Monsignor entered Charles Borromeo Seminary in Overbrook, PA in 1979 and was ordained to the Priesthood on May 19th, 1984. He was elevated to the rank of Honorary Prelate of His Holiness by the late Pope John Paul II on March 14th, 1998. Monsignor served as the Archdiocesan Director of the Society for the Propagation of the Faith and Holy Childhood Association and on the Board of Directors for the National Office of the Society for the Propagation of the Faith and Holy Childhood in New York while he was Pastor of St. Philip Neri in Philadelphia.

In  2004 he to St. John the Evangelist Church where he served as pastor until his death. He will be remembered for his dedication to the families of this parish and to this cause. Dino DeIuliis set up a great recognition ceremony for the type of spiritual leader and supporter that Msgr. was. Msgr. Benz came back to talk about his relationship with Msgr. Fitz and the dignity and class in which the continued on with the duties while undergoing treatments.
